This model for the Astronomical Observatory museum represents the different telescopes that make up one of the most important observatories in the world. Located on the island of La Palma, the "Beautiful Island," is the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory. From where they commissioned us to create 12 museum models for their visitor center.

Introduction

The Roque de Los Muchachos Astronomical Observatory is an emblem of astronomical research. While seeing its telescopes in person is a unique experience, access to this restricted area is not always permitted. Therefore, a visitor center and museum with a permanent exhibition has been created, highlighting the global importance of its work.

  • Architectural ComplexityThe observatory buildings have a complex architecture with many unique features. This presented a challenge for the model makers, who had to pay attention to every detail.

Logistical Challenges:

  • Isolated LocationOne of the main obstacles was the observatory's isolated location. Transporting the necessary materials for installation was quite a challenge, but the extra effort was worthwhile.

  • Collaboration with Local SuppliersTo minimize logistical challenges, we collaborated with local suppliers to obtain some of the necessary materials.

The final result has been highly satisfactory for the IA Manufacturing team. The models not only serve as educational tools but also offer an immersive experience that brings the cosmos closer to Earth. When visiting the island, visitors are encouraged to see these models at the visitor center to gain a deeper understanding of the work carried out at the Roque de Los Muchachos Astronomical Observatory.
