The process behind a 270cm Titanic replica created in 6 months

Francisco Piqueras
A few months ago we carried out the manufacture of a replica of the Titanic, a project that It demanded precision, research, and dedication toabsolute. Measuring 270 x 28 x 53 cm, the model was designed to capture the essence of the ocean liner and faithfully reflect its architecture and historical details.
We collaborate closely with specialized historians, who provided us with valuable information about the ship's design and technical aspects. Through original plans, photographs, and historical documentation, we were able to rigorously interpret each element and adapt it to the scale of the model. This collaborative effort allowed us to faithfully represent the Titanic, respecting its design and preserving its symbolism.

Design and planning: The first step in building a replica of the Titanic
The design of this replica of the Titanic was a job that required dedication and attention to detail from the very beginning. We didn't have any original plans, so we had to create them from scratch based on the historical documentation provided by the client.. Photographs, diagrams, and technical descriptions became the main sources for accurately recreating the proportions and characteristics of the ship.
Every line and measurement of the plan was meticulously developed to fit the final dimensions of the model, ensuring that each section of the model faithfully reflected the original structure of the Titanic. During this stage, We work alongside expert advisors, who helped us to correctly interpret the historical references, making the necessary adjustments before moving on to production.
In addition, planning was included for open sections that would show the interior of the vessel. These openings were carefully designed to allow a detailed view of the internal dependencies, following the examples provided by the client.

Materials and techniques used: The secret behind realism
The construction of the Titanic replica combined high-quality materials with advanced techniques to achieve a durable and detailed model. The hull and main structure of the ship were manufactured using additive manufacturing technology, which allowed absolute control over proportions and the finest details. This method was key to accurately reproducing the shapes and characteristics of the ocean liner to scale.
In addition, we use high-precision polymers and machinable resins for other sections of the model, such as the details of the decks and complementary elements. Once assembled, the pieces were themed using realistic finishes that respected the aesthetics of the Titanic. according to the historical documentation provided.
The application of screen printing inks allowed us to recreate the authentic tones without losing the smallest details. In addition, we used materials from specialized brands such as Preiser, Busch, and Woodland Scenics, ensuring textures and visual elements that faithfully reflect the metallic, wooden, and other essential component surfaces of the Titanic.

Titanic replica manufacturing process
The manufacture of the Titanic replica was a meticulous process that required months of planning and precise execution. Construction began with the hull and main structure, developed using additive manufacturing. This technique not only allowed for a high level of detail, but also ensured the necessary solidity to support the rest of the model's elements.
The ship's furniture and accessories were custom-designed and manufactured in high-precision resin. After manufacturing, they were pHand-painted to bring maximum detail to each piece
EThe model also incorporated open sections that allowed the interior of the Titanic to be observed.. These areas were carefully designed to showcase key compartments of the vessel, based on historical examples and the client's specifications. Every detail was themed using photographic references, with finishes that respected the colors and textures of the period.

Final results: a replica of the Titanic worthy of exhibition
After six months of intensive work, the replica of the Titanic was ready for display. With final dimensions of 269 x 28 x 53 cm, The model stood out for its level of detail and historical accuracy. Every element was carefully crafted to reflect the architecture and design of the ocean liner, from the hull to the open sections that reveal its interior.
The quality of the materials and the finishes guaranteed not only the durability of the model, but also its ability to captivate the public. The themed textures and colors, applied according to historical references, successfully conveyed the atmosphere and elegance of the original Titanic.. Furthermore, the incorporation of advanced techniques such as additive manufacturing and laser engraving made it possible to achieve a high degree of precision in each piece of the model.
The result was a replica that not only meets the necessary technical standards for exhibition, but also acts as a window to the past. This model has become a central element for exhibitions that seek to educate and inspire., offering an experience that connects the viewer with the story of one of the most iconic ships ever built.

The exhibition and the collaboration with Musealia: A traveling historical journey
The replica of the Titanic that we built has become a centerpiece of «"Titanic. The Exhibition"», an international exhibition organized by Musealia, A Spanish company dedicated to creating traveling exhibitions that combine historical accuracy and educational value. This exhibition has toured more than 30 cities., offering visitors an immersive experience that tells the true story of the ocean liner through original artifacts and human stories.
Our collaboration with Musealia was fundamental to ensuring that the model met the quality and authenticity standards required for an exhibition of this scale. We worked in close coordination with their team to integrate the replica into the exhibition's narrative, ensuring that every detail contributed to a deeper understanding of the Titanic's story.
The exhibition It has been a resounding success, attracting thousands of visitors in every city it visits. The model we built not only enriches the experience for visitors but also serves as an educational tool, allowing people to connect tangibly with the past. We are proud to have contributed to this project, which preserves and disseminates the historical memory of the Titanic.
